Look At Her Go!

Yep, it’s official, Emma is now a walker!  She’s come a long ways since The Science Center just over a month ago!

I was slow in getting video of her walking, but now she’s closing in on running!  This weekend she even mastered standing up in the middle of the room, before she’d have to crawl over to someone or something to pull up on to a standing position – but not anymore!  Take a look for yourself!

Ahhhhh…she’s so cute!

Hannah [I Mean Maddie] Montana

Move over, Dora…Hannah Montana is the new cool show for Madison.  Madison walks around quoting Hannah Montana and saying “Hannah Montana, say wutttt?”.  She also loves pretending to be Hannah and other people can be JACKSON….with the emphasis on the JACKSON!  Loud and in-caps in person!

Madison has Hannah Montana movies, books, cds and of course her favorite song is Hannah Montana’s “The Best of Both Worlds", and she’s pretty good at it!  Have a look for yourself….nothing cuter than a 4 year old rock star *note the head banging* “like Hannah Montana does”!

Yeah, it’s true my niece is pretty darn adorable!!  Oh and she picked out the heart its played on too – lol!

A Day At the Farm!

Anyone who knows me at all knows that I am far from a nature/outdoorsy girl, so our adventure yesterday was a tad bit out of my comfort zone!  But I had been invited by a local nannies group to come join them for a play date, so I figured it would be a fun outing with the triplets.  I didn’t really want to have all the fun on my own (ha-ha), so I talked Amy into coming along with Camryn and Jordyn, she happily agreed and we all went!

It didn’t start out so great…Gabbi was petrified of the animals and the boys were also afraid but not nearly as bad as Gabbi.  Luckily the boys warmed up quickly, Gabbi it took a bit longer, but by the end all three were loving the farm!

I took some video and a ton of photos, so I made a montage of our trip to the farm, so check it out!  Ignore my stern “no” in the first video, lol!

I have to admit it, I had fun, the kids had fun and it wore them out so they napped well!  I can’t complain at all!  Thanks Amy for coming along with us and Amanda from Eastside Professional Nannies for inviting us to join her group at the farm!  We’ll definitely have to do it again, the kids all had fun!

The Paparazzi Are After My Family!

First it was Jaime & my mom that appeared in the news paper (wish I had thought ahead to make a copy of the paper!).  Then a couple of weeks ago Julia & I appeared in it….and now it’s Julia’s kids that are the stars!

There’s a brand new playground in/on (what’s the correct way to say it?) Camano, and the Munro’s were one of the first kids there to play on it!  The twins got interviewed and Annika got her picture in the paper [note: they miss-identified the photo, they wrote Mackenzie when it really was Annika).

Check out the story HERE or read it below!

annika paper

The triplets, Amy, her girls and I all went to Kelsey Creek Farm today for a playgroup outing.  I got lots of photos and video that I’m turning into a montage, and hope tomorrow to have it up!  But ran out of time today!  So until next time, my friends!

More Shakin'

What's going on in this world?  We had another earthquake this morning at 5:21am, this one being 3.4 magnitute.  I normally am a very sound sleeper, and sleep through anything, but I happened to be awake and laying in bed when it happened.  It's just been a month since our last earthquake and about a 1.5 years from the one before that.

It definitely got my attention, and then I had a really hard time going back to sleep - but I did and when my alarm went off I had a really hard time waking up!   Another fun event from Mother Nature!

Starting the LONG Process

of making the Cruise 2010 video montage!

I spent the day today uploading, sorting and organizing photos from my camera & video camera along with the photos from Alex, Kelly, my dad and Aaron's cameras.  You wouldn't believe the number of photos we took, and I still have two cameras to upload (Brandi & Jaime's).  Looks like this will be another fun video!  However, don't be expecting this to be posted anytime soon...I think this is going to take a long time to make!  Plus, we (Brandi and I) aren't sure what we're making it for: fun or as Christmas presents.  So we need to figure that out!  But, I made a small dent in the hard work of finding and uploading pictures...now I need to finish uploading the last two to our desktop computer and start the upload process to One True Media....that along takes forever in itself!

Maddie’s T-Ball Game

Yesterday, I finally got the opportunity to see Maddie play t-ball!  Her team is made up of 3 and 4 year olds and boy is it cute!!  I took video of the game yesterday to share!  I have to say, Maddie is a natural, guess we know where she gets the athleticism from…yours truly…the extreme athlete ;)

Take a look and tell me what you think!

Hope you had a wonderful weekend, Monday tomorrow…yuck!

Blogging Rut

I don't know how it's possible that I have posted twice in the past week...that's quite the rut for me, especially because I have several possible things to blog about.  Unfortunantly, I feel like crap from a cold and my favorite cramps and the last two weeks I've had something going on late every night - so by the time I get home all I want to do is crash.  Leaving my blogging for another day and once again, that's what I'm doing this evening!

Worlds Largest Donut!

Yesterday afternoon I had to run to the post office to mail a package and we drove past the Duvall Farmers Market.  We had an hour or so to waste so I decided to stop.  It was small, but fun.  Gabbi & Nate did the kids craft and painted with vegetables…turned out really cute.  Jack wanted nothing to do with it!

After we walked around (took about 3 minutes…did I mention it was small!) we finished our tour with a stop at the bakery stand where they had delicious baked goods.  I couldn’t resist this HUGE donut…the kids didn’t either!  Between the four of us we demolished it in about 5 minutes!

This donut is in a normal round cake box!

donut2Trying to get the 3 to look at me to take a picture with the donut to give perspective to the size!  It didn’t work so well as you can see!

Did I mention how yummy it was??!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Painting!

Very original title I know, I’m so exhausted this evening that I’m not feeling very creative.  However, I wanted to post these pictures of Julia & I painting the twins’ room today!

The boys each of their own “color” (a common occurrence for multiples), Connor is red and Aiden is blue.  So Julia wanted to find a design that would incorporate both of their colors and be something that wasn’t “to kid like”, but that they can grow with (at least the paint on the wall).  She found the perfect set Tommy Hilfiger American Classic (Aiden got the blue one and Connor got the red one).  After the bedding arrived, she got the great idea to do a nautical theme, which is perfect for their beachy lifestyle!  So she found a design online that she liked and we tweaked it to fit the colors she chose!

We started yesterday when I was up their with Molly’s kids for the weekend.  We moved the twins into Mackenzie’s room and vice-versa, to give the boys the larger room…that was a lot of work with just Julia & I, plus 7-kids who all wanted to ‘help’.  We also accomplished all the taping, so today all we had to do was paint.

DSC_0093The taped lines

I got up to Camano early this morning and met up with Julia and the girls at the hardware store to buy the paint.  We then headed back to their house and put the girls down for a nap before we got started!

DSC_0095Here is Julia while I started painting…yep she’s asleep!  But to her defense she had a horrible headache :(

I started painting and got a little bit done then she jumped in and quickly completed her redlines….with double coats….before I had completed the blue!!  Not sure of her logic since you can see how much BLUE there was compared to her puny red line!!  Oh well!

      DSC_0097 DSC_0099
But since she finished her painting quickly, there was time for her to take photos of me working hard :)

DSC_0100 I bet you’re wishing you could have you’re hand covered in blue paint!!  Don’t worry, I know I’m messy but that was from removing an old roller brush from the roller!

We were able to get the boys room finished, cleaned-up and ready for them when they came home from school!  They were very surprised to see that we had painted it!

 DSC_0120 DSC_0112
Aiden on the left & Connor on the right

So here’s the finished product…Julia purchased a large (15”) red “C” and “A” that will go up on the sides of the window above the boys’ beds.  So when it is finished, I’ll post that, but they haven’t arrived yet so you’ll just have to wait!

DSC_0122

I think it turned out super cute!  I didn’t take pictures of the entire room, just one corner to give you an idea of what it looks like.  The stripes go all the way around the room!  It looks great, I love it and another successful project for Julia & Cori!!

I Risked My Life…

or at least my toe, to save MacKenzie from falling off her bike!

Warning: nasty un-pedicured toes….I’m almost to mortified to post this!

toe
My poor toe will never be the same again….well at least until it grows out an inch or two :-)

Julia is appalled and shocked that we spent all day together with her kids and Molly’s playing outside in the sun, especially after I just got BOTH of her lenses fixed…you’d think I’d be ready to break it again!

Media and Communication Studies (MCS)

After numerous pushes into this direction, I’ve finally decided to apply to the University of Washington-Bothell and get my bachelors degree in Media & Communication Studies.  The program at UW-Bothell looks pretty awesome, here’s the blurb from their website regarding the program…

The Media and Communication Studies (MCS) option in the Interdisciplinary Studies major combines a rich grounding in media and communication theory and history with hands-on opportunities to engage in media practice and production.  The option challenges students to become critical practitioners by developing the intellectual capacities and practical skills needed to communicate through new media formats.

MCS coursework integrates theory and practice through media production workshops, classroom seminars, and community-based projects. The curriculum enables students to hone their skills as media critics and practitioners by drawing connections across diverse social, cultural, and scientific areas of inquiry and professional sectors.

MCS prepares students for graduate study in Communication, Media Studies, and Cultural Studies, among many others fields, and lays the groundwork for future careers in electronic media broadcasting, non-broadcasting audio and video production, advertisement, public relations, or communication education(UW-Bothell Media & Communication Degree)

I’ve had a lot of interest in this degree the last year after numerous people have told me “your really are a great writer, you should be a writer”.  However I really don’t want to be a ‘writer’ per say, I like more of the media and communications aspects, PR, Publicity, Blogs, Online Groups, etc.  I don’t want to be come a journalist (at least not right now), so I was excited to see how much I could do with this degree.

I met with an admissions counselor at UW-Bothell on Monday, and she didn’t think I’d have to hard of a time getting into the school.  I’m one quarter short of a foreign language, so I plan this summer to take it at BCC, and then be ready to start at UW-Bothell in the Media and Communications program in the fall!

I started working on my application, and just have to write the Personal Statement and collect transcripts from all the schools I’ve been at.  I’m slowly making progress, so here I go …

Toddler Sleep Success

Yes, I think I have finally profected the naptime sleeping for the triplets.  I've had I'd say a 78.8% of successful naps over the last three weeks.  You may be thinking, that's not that impressive...well you have never met Gabbi, the girl doesn't believe in napping!  If it was just the boys I'd be upto 98% success rate, but Gabbi throws a damper into my success!  So now you make ask, "how do you do it?", and today only I'm willing to share my success with all of you - nice huh!
Step 1: Run the kids: I suppose I have Brandi to thank for this idea.  What a concept, the more you run the kids the sleepier they get!  That's easier said then done in the wintertime especially in Seattle with all the rain we get.  But amazingly, if I take the kids outside even 15-20 minutes and just let them RUN (whether at a park or up and down the driveway) they get more tired.  Rocket Science isn't this!
Step 2: Split Up the Triplets: This is harder then you would think, since only the triplets bedroom is truly "triplet proof" (they can break get in and out of anything).  All three climb out of pack 'n plays and of course their toddler beds.
We started out with them all in their bedroom with me sitting there until they all fell asleep.  Tourture for me, especially because it could take up to 90minutes for all three to sleep!  Poor Nate would fall asleep right away but would be awoken by the other two shortly.  I started moving Nate into another room in a pack 'n play (I figured he would stay in, he is a good listener when it comes to this!  Plus he hadn't climbed out that much).  Success there.
Now we had Jack & Gabbi running wild in their room.  Before we moved them to toddler beds, Gabbi had been sleeping in the playroom, so I once again moved her into the playroom....yes, you see where this is going, she didn't sleep she just played.  I then realized if I move Jack into another room I could contain Gabbi in their room with no toys.  But where to put Jack?  I'd already learned the playroom was out, because playroom + toys = no nap, figured Sophia's room was a REALLY bad idea, that left Kim & Mark's bedroom.
I worried about putting him their because he is known for climbing out of the pack 'n play, and I can only imagine what he would get into in there.  So I had a plan....this took me 4 days to finally get success, but I shut Kim's door partly so I could still see him IN the pack 'n play and would sit out in the alcove outside the room.  Everytime (and yes he did many times) he climbed out I would put him back in and tell him "I'm sitting right here, and I will put you back in bed eachtime you get up".  Eachtime it would take between 10-20minutes before he'd get the picture and was out cold.  I now just put Jack in the pack 'n play in Kim's room, leave the door open and tell him "I'm sitting right here, if you get up I will put you back in", I don't even have to sit outside the door anymore.  I check on him like 10minutes later to ensure he's in the pack 'n play still and if he's asleep I then shut the door.  Success x 3...well assuming Gabbi will fall asleep, which brings me to my final step.
Step 3: FANS: Yes, I use fans to block out any other noise (whether from outside or one of the triplets still talking).  I turn on ALL bathroom fans upstairs and move the big fan from Kim & Mark's room to outside the triplets room and turn that on high to block out Gabbi, who normally yells for me and bangs on the door before she falls asleep.  But that way Nate & Jack can't hear her...as well.
The last two days, I got ALL THREE to sleep THREE HOUR naps!  Granted Jaime worked yesterday, and they didn't nap so I'm sure that worked into my favor, but regaurdless I've had success!  I'm proud of my work, because after running nonstop with them all morning, I'm ready for a break myself!  What do I do?  Watch The Price is Right that I had recorded a few hours earlier and maybe take a rest myself!

Well now naptime is over, and I have three kids waiting for my attention.  Back outside to play, I love the nice weather makes for a happy nanny!!

Alex’s New Car

That lucky girl, who turned 16 last June, now has her own car – it’s quite a step-up from the car she drove the day after her birthday last year as seen HERE

It saddens me that she has a nicer car then mine, especially after driving mine for the past 6+ months…oh well, I’ll survive I suppose!

DSCN0608

Alex got a 2007, Nissan Sentra.  It is an awesome car, I’m so jealous!  Not only is it gorgeous to look at on the outside, the inside is sweet as well!  It has a great sound system, comfortable seats, a great car!  One of the coolest features is, it doesn’t require the key in the ignition to drive it!  The key just has to be in your possession (for example at the bottom of your purse)!  How cool is that?

DSCN0607See the car turned on, and the keys not in the ignition?!

Enjoy your new car Alex, I know I have had fun driving it around the last couple of days!!  Congratulations on your first car, you chose a great one!

“Built on the Rock: A Book of Mormon Musical”

logo

This past weekend Alex participated in the Redmond Stake Youth Conference production of “Built on the Rock: A Book of Mormon Musical” a new musical based on the stories of the Book of Mormon.  The musical was actually written by a woman in our stake, Dana B. Cardon and her sister, Karen R. Bryce for the youth of the Redmond, Washington Stake!  How cool is that!?!

"Built on the Rock" is a new musical created for the youth of the Redmond Washington Stake of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The musical follows the story of one teenager's journey as he begins to understand how he can come to Jesus Christ. Stories from the Book of Mormon highlight Christ's central role in gaining a testimony. The prophets of the Book of Mormon show us the way by teaching us how to gain faith, become converted, build on the rock of our Redeemer, have a mighty change of heart, repent, be true at all times, invite us to come to the light, which is Christ, and recommend that we "seek this Jesus" (Ether 12:41).  (Taken from Redmond Stake Youth Conference 2010 webpage)

Like morons, my family forgot to bring a camera to take pictures.  It probably wouldn’t have mattered anyway, because there was no flash photography, so the photos wouldn’t have come out.  However, their was on photographer there who took some fantastic photos and was nice enough to share with Alex & for me to post on my blog.  So a big thank you to Margie Mueller of Margie Mueller Photography for letting me ‘steal’ some photos!  I really appreciate it!

861399355_20100508-img_5930 a859600676_20100506-img_5688 861396149_20100508-img_5905861478932_20100508-img_6132 861479694_20100508-img_6142 861481220_20100508-img_6164 861482642_20100508-img_6175

Extra points for those of you who can spot ALEX in two of these photos!  Post a comment if you can spot her!  Good luck!!

Cabo Baby!

cabo

Did I mention lately how awesome my Grandma Benson is lately?  Love the lady!  She is taking the family to Cabo San Lucas next year!!  You ask, how did this happen?  Well, on Saturday night we all attended (okay Erin & I worked) the Bellevue Rotary’s annual auction to support Eastside Baby Corner.  One of the live auction items was a 7-day trip to Cabo  in a 5,000 square-foot oceanside villa!  How fun does that sound?  So far (haven’t heard from Sue, but would assume they’re in) everyone, including the little girls get to go!  I’m so excited I can’t even stand it!

We went to Cabo this past March when we were on the cruise.  However, we were only on land for about 6 hours, before we were off again.  Cabo, was absolutely beautiful and a place our family agreed they’d love to go back too!  Now, I guess we get our wish!

If you’d like to see more photos of ‘our’ villa check it out here.  It looks like we’re going to shoot for the week of April 3, 2011, so Alex doesn’t have to miss school again.  She’s still paying from the cruise a few months ago!  Even she’s not willing to risk her gpa again, even for another fun family trip!  But, regardless I’M GOING TO CABO!!

I’m all so in the process of writing 3 more blogs, so stay tuned for more fun – ha!

Mothers Day!

mothers

Happy Mothers Day to all the moms out there!  I have a very special mommy who I am very appreciative for and love very much!  I hope you all had a very fun day and got to enjoy some of the beautiful weather we had today!  We celebrated with our extended family by having a huge brunch.  I was the last one in to get food, and all the waffles were gone!  I was so annoyed, but luckily there was just enough batter for me to make one last waffle, so I survived!

This evening I went over to Jaime’s to hang out and not to long after we arrived at the condo the smoke alarms started going off.  At first we thought it was just in their condo and caused by Brandi’s shower.  Jaime went to investigate and try to turn off the alarm.  At that point she realized the alarms were going off all over the building, and we had to evacuate.

alarm

As you can see above the fire department showed up, but by then we were all already informed of the problem.  Apparently you’re not allowed to barbeque on the decks and a person on the second floor did.  Well, one of the condo board members went to that condo and told them they couldn’t barbeque and suggested they move it to the park next door.  So the owners decide, okay we’ll do that, so they walked their smoking barbeque THROUGH the condo, into the halls and outside…another words, sending smoke through the halls of the condo, thus us going outside.  They quickly checked the building and shut off the alarm so we could go back inside.

Madison was excited to show off her fire skills she learned at school a couple weeks ago.  She was bummed we didn’t “crawl outside like puppy dogs” like she was taught in school.  But she was excited to receive the stickers and tattoos from the fireman.

Here goes another week!!!

Julia & I are FAMOUS!

When we were in Spokane last month playing at Monito Park, Julia & I were interviewed by a journalist with the Spokesman Review, the local newspaper.  After we were interviewed, I asked when would it be appearing, the journalist said May 6th, but said it doesn’t appear online, it’s just a newspaper insert.  So I was bummed I probably wouldn’t get to see it.

Well this morning Julia got a message from Teresa in Spokane saying she was reading the paper when she saw a couple of familiar faces smiling back at her….how funny is that?!  We had forgotten about it, and apparently hadn’t warned anyone in Spokane about our ‘interview’.  So thanks to Teresa alerting Julia she was actually able to locate it online!

Julia then sent me the link, and all she said was “you’ll get a good laugh out of this”.  When I finally was able to look, my first thought was “how did Julia do this” – ie: some how photoshopped me into a newspaper, knowing how I like attention.  Then I read the caption and it all came back to me!

Back on April 19th, Julia and I were asked If we were in the circus what would we want to do and whyThis is what we said….

circus juliaJulia said “I’d do the motorcycles in the spin cage.  That’s the most exciting part of the circus.”

circus cori I said “I’d be the ringleader.  I like to be in charge.”

If you want to see the actual newspaper articles, here’s Julia's and here’s Mine.  I don’t know how long it’ll be on their newspaper site, so I posted it above so I have them forever – ha!
