Rolling With the Punches

Today was my first day back to school since Winter quarter last year.  Needless to say it was hard to go back to school this evening.  I was told to go ahad and register for ASL 102, since I'd already taken 101....but within 10 minutes of class, I knew I was in over my head.  Politely got up and left.

Luckily, I had remembered that an ASL 101 was being taught in the classroom next door, so I popped in.  I have decided to go ahead and take 101 again, and then 102 in the fall.  It sucks with another set-back, but I really don't think I have much of a choice.  I'd rather retake then fail the class.  If everything goes as planned, I hope to be admitted into the University of Washington Bothell in January.

It continues....

Happy 8th Birthday Sophia!

Today is Sophia’s 8th birthday, where has the time gone?!  I’ve only known her since she was 4 years old, but what an impression she has left on my heart, I love that little girl!  (how sweet isn’t that??)

For her birthday she got a couple of Mad-Libs books and we had fun playing with them today.  It has been forever since I did one!  Forgot how funny they are, especially when you are with a silly 8-year-old!!

I hope you had a wonderful birthday sweet Sophia!!

Plethora of Posts & Pictures!

Yesterday marked my 500th blog post and to think I forgot to announce it…silly me!  I didn’t want to miss my 500th post so for a week I’ve been counting down on my laptop until my 500th post!  Go figure, with the plethora of computers in my house, I didn’t use my laptop and yet one of our desktops….missing the big  5-0-0.  *sigh* what’s a girl to do….post about it today I suppose!

Over the past couple of years, I’ve had a plethora of posts!  My top 3 blogging topics are:

  1. My niece Madison – with 102 posts
  2. My cousin and one of my BFF’s Jaime – with 89 posts
  3. Tied for 3rd with 85 posts – My niece Emmalee and favorite 2nd family the Munro’s!

One of my favorite things about blogging is getting to go back and look at past posts!  It’s a great reminder to me of what I’ve done, where I’ve been and where I hope to go!!

Yesterday, I blogged briefly on my Aunt Sue’s wedding, and posted a couple of pictures, but mentioned that I had a plethora of pictures to sort through, 521 of them to be exact, to still go through.  I’m so proud of myself, in less then 24-hours I:

  • downloaded & edited all the photos off the cameras
  • uploaded all the wedding photos to Snapfish for people to order from,
  • put them on a CD for my Aunt to take home with her
  • made a montage of the wedding!

Phew!  That’s quite the plethora of photography related items, in a short period of time, for me!

With all that being said here is the wedding montage I made of the plethora of photos that we took yesterday!  Since I know that I know that the majority of my biggest blog fans and followers are my family, here you go…I hope you enjoy the video!!  Congratulations Sue & Aaron, I love you guys!!

Sue & Aaron’s Wedding: 26 years in the making!

Today was my Aunt Sue’s wedding.  She and Aaron have been together 26 years and finally tied the knot in a beautiful backyard ceremony today!  The weather was beautiful, the wedding went off without and hitch and the food was fantastic!  I took 521 photos, guess you can say I got a big snap happy!!  Tonight I’m to busy to go through the photos so I just wanted to post a couple to tied my family over for the night :-)

Hopefully tomorrow, I’ll get through all the photos and add more from the festivities today!  I had a great day, but now am ready for bed!!  It’s been a long, stressful few days for my family!

Happy Saturday evening all!

Alex’s Piano Recital

Tonight was Alex’s Spring piano recital…let me tell you this girl has TALENT!  I wish I could play like she can, if only I’d stuck with piano lessons!!  Like the proud big sister I am, I came with my camera and video camera, only to find out that my video camera didn’t have the memory card in it….so I couldn’t record, I was bummed.  (If you want to check out Alex playing from a year and a half ago, check out HERE.)  So you’ll have to make do with just still photos!

DSC_0451“I’m getting a bit nervous….do I look flushed to you??”

DSC_0454DSC_0456
She plays very intensely!  Man her fingers move quickly up and down the ivory!

DSC_0455She also always bites her lips when she’s concentrating!

  DSC_0457
Love this photo of her…a big smile on her face after she NAILED a super hard song!  She even got an unexpected round of applause by the audience! (We were told not to clap until after each student performs all their songs and this was only her 2nd of 3 songs!)

My sister is so talented, I so wish I had been able to share her music with you tonight.  She plans on playing tomorrow during my Aunt’s wedding reception, so I’ll try to record it then!  She will knock your socks off!

Well, my Aunt is getting married tomorrow in a backyard wedding!  Hope the weather holds out, supposed to be in the 70s tomorrow, but you never know with Seattle weather!  I’m excited because I’m also the photographer of the wedding!  I have never taken a photography class, and am very much an amateur, but am still excited to try!  My Aunt has only three photos she really wants, so that shouldn’t be to hard to achieve!  The rest will just be me taking photos of the fun and festivities!   With that being said, hopefully tomorrow evening I’ll have photos to share, we’ll see how exhausted I am!

What Does Summer Mean to My Family?

Apparently, anybody who is anyone in the blogging world participates in

Mama's Losin' It

And, since we all know I’m willing to follow every one else off the cliff, for sure I’d join in on this meme for sure!  Mama Kat posts 5 different prompts each week, and you are supposed to pick one, write about it and then link up with her blog on Thursday.  So here’s my first attempt….

Question #5) What Does Summer Mean To Your Family?

Family is very important to my family (sounds funny doesn’t it?).  We are a close knit group who gets together at least once a week.  During the summertime, we get together a lot more!  We just love to be together!  I’m lucky to have most of my dad’s side of the family really close (within 20minutes), so that’s the family I spend the most time with.  (My mom’s family is all over the country).  So let’s see what does summer mean to us?

summer6Fun in the backyard with WATER!
Yes, that’s me throwing water at poor 15month old Madison!  Evil aren’t I!

summerHanging out on the backyard swing with friends & family!
That swing is a hot commodity in our household!  Everyone loves to sit and swing on it!  Oh and yes, that is a blanket they are wrapped in, this is summer in Seattle after all!

So that’s what summer means to my family!  What does summer mean to yours??

Who spends $591 on rubber??

Apparently I do :(

DSCN0748
I took my car into Les Schwab today in hopes of their being a small hole that they could quickly patch for free and I’d be on my way….yeah, not so much!!  Apparently my drivers rear tire was almost flat had 3 large holes in….seriously did someone come at my tire with a foible, nails, a gun??  Three wholes??  Seriously??  Don’t you think I would have noticed when it happened??

It cost me $591, but it had to be done….nothing you can do about it!  At least now people can’t say Now my car is ready for another 50k miles, but do I really want it for another 50k miles?  That’s more of the question!!

Once the Baby, Always the Baby!

alex2m

This beautiful baby girl was born to my parents on June 22, 1993 @ 1:15pm.  That was 17 years ago!  The baby of my family is now 17!   How in the world is that possible??

Seems like it was just yesterday that she was born!  The day she was born Kelly & I spent with the our neighbors the Chambers and were picked up a short time later to go meet our baby sister!  I distinctly remember running into the doctor as we entered the hospital and her congratulating us on the new baby!  I remember the nurse, Ginny (funny what you remember…and yes, that was how she spelled it!), waiting for us so we could help give Alex her first bath!  Ahhh…memories!  She’s still pretty cute today, but not quite as cute as the baby pictured above!

Interesting note on the dress she was wearing in the above photo.  That dress was warn by all three of us as our blessing dress.  We all got blessed in it, and had our pictures taken on the same background at 2 months old!  We have all three photos hanging in our home and the dress still hangs in my mom’s closet for the next generation!

DSCN0721The Birthday Girl was excited to show off the first strawberry of the season from her garden!

All she wanted for her birthday was a tea pot.  My mom went crazy and all out for Alex getting her an entire tea set!  It was sweet, Alex seemed to be happy, but I’m happy that was her gift and not mine – ha-ha!   DSCN0722DSCN0741     DSCN0738DSCN0745DSCN0743

My dad made us a scrumptious pasta dish!  It was de.li-cious!  It was some sort of white sauce with bacon, peas and asparagus.  It was heavenly!!DSCN0723

We failed to remember to get her a cake, so she had to live with Schwan's Apple Cinnamon Wantons!  Now, now, now, don’t feel that sorry for her, she gets two more parties so I have no doubt she’ll get a cake or two!  Oh….and we put birthday candles in the wantons, only to find out the MELT – duh, right!  So my dad was quick to come up with just putting matches into them!  We sung the fasted rendition of Happy Birthday on record to keep our table from going up in flames!! DSCN0747

Happy 17th Birthday, Alex!

“Not Me” Monday: Bruise Edition

Mckmama- Not Me Monday

No, it would definitely not be me to post this picture of my bruise I gave myself...DSCN0716

No, I would definitely not share that I got this bruise while climbing on a chair, then onto the counter just to get something off the top shelf of the cupboard!  I apparently do not learn that nothing good can come from climbing on chairs and counters.  Especially, when I did not land directly on the corner of a wrought iron chair similar to this :

chairYeah, it really did not hurt at all and I did not tell Jaime, “that’s going to leave a really bad bruise” right away!  But amazingly it really did NOT appear for a couple of days (really it didn’t!)!  I actually thought that “maybe I won’t get a bruise”!   Ha!  Guess, we know what the real truth is!

DSCN0718I know I am not posting this picture of me with a semi-wedgie…how embarrassing!

DSCN0719A little bit better….still embarrassing though!  But I guess those who really know me, know I really do NOT love to post things to get attention and sympathy!  That would really not be me!

Whatever you do, do NOT stop by my BlogFrog community, Cori's Big Mouth, and comment on what the weather is like at your house on the first day of summer!

Happy NOT ME Monday, everyone!!!
